Augusta's 2026 Fourth of July show lit up the Savannah River at about 9:30 p.m. after a festival from 5 p.m. No 2027 plans are posted yet. City: 311.

Last checked Oct. 6, 2026. This page is updated each year. Augusta has not announced its plans for July 4, 2027, so this guide describes the 2026 celebration, as the city announced it in June 2026 and WRDW reported. We will update it when the 2027 details are posted.

Augusta’s Independence Day fireworks are a city event on the downtown riverfront. In 2026 the city called it “Meet Us at the River,” a joint celebration with North Augusta, South Carolina, for the nation’s 250th birthday and the city’s 290th.

Festival: live entertainment, food vendors, crafts, kid zones Saturday, July 4, 2026, 5 to 9 p.m. Georgia riverfront between Fifth and Ninth streets
Fireworks About 9:30 p.m. Over the Savannah River

All the festival activities were on the Georgia side of the river. The fireworks could be seen from both the Augusta and the North Augusta riverfronts. The city asked people to bring their own lawn chairs, and it set up portable restrooms and hand-washing stations.

Where to watch

  • The Augusta Riverwalk and the riverfront between Fifth and Ninth streets put you closest to the show and to the food and music.
  • The North Augusta riverfront across the river also faced the show.

Fireworks at home

Consumer fireworks, including firecrackers, skyrockets and sparklers, have been legal in Georgia since July 1, 2015, according to the state Safety Fire Commissioner. The commissioner’s office says two-thirds to three-fourths of all fireworks injuries happen in the four weeks around Independence Day, and it asks people who do not feel safe lighting their own to go to a public show instead. Its 2025 safety tips:

  • Read the label and follow the directions for each firework.
  • Light fireworks a safe distance from other people and anything that can burn.

For local rules on when and where you may set them off, the commissioner’s office says to contact your local police or fire department; in Augusta, start with 311.

What this means for you

  • Plan for the riverfront, 5th to 9th streets, with the show about 9:30 p.m.
  • Avoid Reynolds Street by car that evening.
  • Bring a chair, as the city asked in 2026.
  • Check back in June 2027 for the new date and times.
