Coming to Augusta: Augusta Cigar & Billiards on Washington Road, new owners at two package stores, an extended-stay hotel bid on Walker Street, Greyhound downtown.

Last checked Oct. 6, 2026. This is the first monthly roundup, covering records from Sept. 9 to Oct. 6, 2026. Every item comes from an Augusta, Georgia Government public record: the Augusta Commission’s meeting agendas and the city’s news releases. An application is not an opening: we list what has been filed or approved and say which. The roundup is rebuilt each month.

City records often show a business on its way before it opens. In Augusta, alcohol license applications go through the Augusta Commission’s Public Services Committee and then the full commission, and rezonings and special exceptions for new uses go from the Planning Commission to the Augusta Commission. Both are posted on the commission’s agenda site.

How to read this page

An alcohol license approval means the city has cleared the business to sell alcohol at that address. A rezoning or special exception means the land can be used for the business; building permits and inspections still follow. New owners of an existing store also need a new license, so not every item here is a new storefront.
