Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9, 2027. In Augusta the day has meant a sold-out city brunch by Lake Olmstead, full dining rooms downtown and a Saturday market on the river. None of the 2027 plans are posted yet.

The city’s Mother’s Day brunch

In 2025 Augusta Recreation and Parks held a Mother’s Day Brunch at the Julian Smith Casino, the historic city building at 2200 Broad St. by Lake Olmstead, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10. It sold out (city calendar). If the city repeats it, tickets will go on the same calendar in the spring; call 706-796-5025 to ask.

We add Mother’s Day menus only when a restaurant posts them. In 2026, WRDW reported that The Brunch House of Augusta on Greene Street and The Frog and the Hen both served Mother’s Day brunch, and The Frog and the Hen had about 350 guests by 3 p.m. (WRDW). Markets and gifts

  • The Augusta Market at the River runs Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 8th and Reynolds streets, with local farmers, makers, food vendors and live music. Its 2026 season ran March 21 to Nov. 21, so the Saturday before Mother’s Day, May 8, falls in season (The Augusta Market).
  • Augusta and Co., the visitor center at 1010 Broad St., sells Augusta-made gifts.

Things to do together

  • FREE Sundays at the Morris. The Morris Museum of Art, 1 Tenth St., opens free on Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. in its fall listings (Morris).
  • A walk by the water. The Riverwalk downtown and the Augusta Canal towpath, both free; distances and trailheads are on our walking and biking trails page.
  • Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, 1858 Lock and Dam Road, for its boardwalk and trails (Phinizy Center).

Mother’s Day is not a city holiday: trash pickup runs as normal, and Augusta Transit runs no buses on any Sunday (Augusta Transit).
