Richmond County’s spring break is Monday, April 5, through Monday, April 12, 2027, on the school system’s board-approved 2026-27 calendar. Students also have Friday, March 26 (Good Friday) off, and Easter falls on March 28, the weekend before the break. Families in Columbia County or across the river in South Carolina should check their own district’s calendar.

Spring break camps
- Kroc Center spring camp. In 2026 the Salvation Army Kroc Center ran Spring Kroc Camp for ages 5 to 12 across the break, April 6-10 and April 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with arts and crafts, team building, gym games and swimming. Campers bring a lunch, snack, swimsuit and towel; there is no before or after care beyond those hours, and a registration form is required (Kroc Augusta). Watch the same page for the 2027 dates.
- City programs. Augusta Recreation and Parks lists its classes and camps on its online registration site; its summer day camps are on our summer camps and pools guide.

- Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, 1858 Lock and Dam Road: the half-mile Beaver Dam Trail, the 0.8-mile Pond Trail, a floodplain boardwalk with an observation deck and the Mayor’s Fishin’ Hole, where a Georgia fishing license is required (Phinizy Center).
- The Augusta Canal. Walk or ride the towpath from the Headgates at Savannah Rapids Park or the Mill Village Trailhead, or take a boat tour from the Discovery Center at Enterprise Mill, 1450 Greene St. (Augusta Canal).
- The Riverwalk downtown, with access at 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th streets and a playground.
- The Morris Museum of Art, 1 Tenth St., which runs FREE Sundays.
- Splash pads and playgrounds. The city lists splash pads at Wood Park, Brookfield Park and McBean Park; check the city status page before you go.
- Indoor swimming. The Augusta Aquatics Center, 3157 Damascus Road, has open swim from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, $5 for adults and $3 for students (Aquatics Center).

- City offices keep regular hours during the school break. In 2026 the city gave its employees Good Friday off (2026 holiday schedule); the 2027 list is not out yet.
- Trash pickup runs as normal; Good Friday is not one of the six holidays that move it (holiday schedule).
- Libraries keep regular hours unless the library’s closed dates say otherwise; in 2026 it closed for Easter Sunday.
